Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, Flow Cytometry Department, Aliso Viejo, CA Shift: Tuesday‑Saturday, 2:00 pm‑10:30 pm (subject to change) Position Summary The Laboratory Supervisor is accountable for the accuracy and reliability of all laboratory services provided by the specialty department. The Laboratory Supervisor manages day‑to‑day laboratory operations, personnel, and processes to maintain performance and ensure compliance with quality metrics and clinical test procedures. Responsibilities Under the direction of, and in the absence of, the Laboratory Manager and/or Medical Laboratory Director, ensure adequate performance of all laboratory procedures. Perform high‑complexity clinical tests by following department procedures. Present data and information across all levels, including the lab, department, division, and corporate, and proficiently answer questions from staff, managers, and clients. Develop and maintain a detailed laboratory procedures manual to meet accreditation and licensing requirements; ensure departmental SOPs accurately reflect current processes and update as needed. Provide direct supervision of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and report results by qualified technologists. Initiate and monitor QC programs for the department; assure compliance with regulations; monitor quality metrics and implement corrective actions. Recruit, retain, and train qualified personnel; ensure staff training and compliance with SOPs and skill checklists. Prepare employee reviews, approve time and attendance, maintain training files, and perform other administrative duties as required. Assist the Laboratory Manager or Director of Operations in establishing budgetary controls and maintaining cost at an acceptable level; prepare reports detailing departmental activities, revenues, expenses, and the like. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience, Education and Qualifications Master Degree (Arts or Science) in chemical, physical, or biological sciences with at least four years of pertinent laboratory experience, including at least two years in a clinical laboratory under a doctoral‑level director. OR Bachelor Degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences with at least six years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience, including two years in a clinical laboratory under a doctoral‑level director. At least six years of high‑complexity testing experience in the assigned specialty; preferred one year of internal service as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist III for promotion. At least three years of supervisory or leadership experience. Certificate compliance requirements: Nationally: ASCP certification for the assigned specialty, as available. FL: current state supervisor‑level license to perform laboratory testing. CA: current state supervisor‑level license to perform laboratory testing.
