POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Relief Residential Support Staff is an employee hired on a needed basis to provide coverage when regular full-time or part-time employees are not working their regularly scheduled shift due to vacation, illness, paid holiday(s) or any other requested or required absence. The Relief Residential Support Staff will provide residential care participants/residents in any of our residential programs. These programs include Les Marquis Family Emergency Shelter, Banyan House Transitional Housing Facility, El Chante Substance Use Disorder Men's Recovery Home, Safe Harbor Peer Respite and Sally's Place Peer Respite Home. The Relief Residential Support Staff works with our participants/residents by providing a unique level of support that places an emphasis on responsibility, respect, and compassion. Please note that training for each individual program is required prior to taking any shift for the different residential programs. A Relief Residential Support Staff can work 0- 30 hours a week depending on the needs of the individual residential programs. In this flexible position, you are not regularly scheduled to work, have no set shifts, and staff will be called on to cover shifts that are day shifts, early evening shifts, night shifts or graveyard shifts. Availability to cross-train at all residential sites is mandatory and must be completed within the first 30 days of employment. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Relief Residential Staff must be able to work a flexible work schedule Must be available for a last minute call to cover a shift Not regularly scheduled to work specific shifts or hours. Work hours vary week-to-week, depending when full-time or part-time staff call out for their shift or when they are on vacation, or to cover a leave of absence. Provide supervision and monitoring of residents on site, consistent with the program policies and procedures, which may vary significantly from site to site/program to program. Ensure that residents participate in site programming as expected. Appropriately and accurately, document interventions, client behavior, and program progress. Answer the telephone and the door efficiently and courteously, as needed. Detect and implement appropriate disciplinary reports and actions on violations of community rules/comfort agreements. Perform other general office duties as expected for the shift being covered. Able to think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies. Comply with all safety policies and procedures, including workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others. Respond to telephone calls pertaining to crisis, request for referrals, and requests for program information. Dispense resident medications as per prescription as needed (El Chante Men's Recovery Home only). Plan and facilitate age appropriate activities at Les Marquis and Banyan House. Foster healthy development through interactions and play with children. Cooking/Kitchen responsibilities Perform grocery shopping as assigned and if needed. Deliver meals prepared for family-style service to the FESCO emergency shelter site, ensuring meals are appropriate for children's age and development. Set up the dining room and food preparation areas prior to service. Maintain kitchen and dining areas according to shift checklists and safety standards. Ensure a safe and sanitary kitchen environment at all times. Responsible for thorough kitchen cleanup and dishwashing duties. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records in compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) requirements. Assist with menu planning, ordering supplies, and grocery shopping as assigned. Receive, inventory, and properly store new orders and donations. Maintain accurate meal rosters, ensuring residents sign up for meals and record saved plates as required. Complete daily participant attendance sheets and service logs. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED required At least 6 months of volunteer work or work experience in mental health, substance abuse, or working with families and children required. Must possess a current ServSafe food safety certification, demonstrating knowledge of food safety, proper handling, sanitation, and compliance with health regulations. CPR and First Aid certification (can be provided by La Familia) Clear Tuberculosis (TB) test from within the last 60 days required within first 30 days of employment Bilingual in Spanish preferred Must be able to work flexible work hours including evenings and weekends Must be able to complete cross-training at all 5 residential sites within 30 days of employment Must be able to work a shift at least 1-3 times per month Knowledge of alcohol and drug prevention and recovery/ treatment programs and principles; Knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drug abuse; Must demonstrate ability to understand client needs and work with adult men, particularly Latinos. Ability to manage client issues which may occur in recovery from drugs and mental health issues Experience working with adults in a residential settings Accurately and appropriately, document communications, behaviors and routine facility events as they occur. Ability to use the equipment necessary to complete the responsibilities of the job. Experience in non-profit and community-based organizations preferred. Demonstrates and models excellent "customer service" orientation and ability to work with diverse populations. Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance, and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties. Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace products. Maintains knowledge of community resources for client referrals Attend work regularly, adhering to policies on absences and tardiness. Understands and applies legal requirements, including confidentiality and risk management. Timekeeping & Attendance Responsibilities Accurately record work hours each day by clocking in/out at scheduled start, break, lunch, and end times. Take all required meal and rest breaks in compliance with state, federal, and agency policies. Review and submit timesheets by established deadlines to ensure timely payroll processing. Notify supervisor promptly of any scheduling conflicts, absences, tardiness, or timekeeping issues. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance to support team and program operations. Follow organizational policies and procedures related to overtime, schedule changes, and paid/unpaid leave. Correct and/or report any timekeeping discrepancies immediately to the supervisor for resolution.
