Build the Future With Us: Summer Project Engineer Internship

Ready to see what really happens behind the scenes of major construction projects?

At Auburn Mechanical , our Summer Project Engineer Internship gives you a front-row seat to the world of construction project management. You won't be stuck making coffee or filing papers. You'll work alongside experienced Project Managers, learn how large-scale projects come together, and gain hands-on experience that actually matters.

What You'll Be Doing

• Working with project teams to help keep projects on track
• Assisting with cost estimates, proposals, and change orders
• Helping manage project documentation and contract updates
• Supporting material and equipment procurement
• Tracking project budgets, forecasts, and billing activities
• Coordinating submittals, as-built drawings, and closeout documents
• Building relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors
• Learning what it takes to successfully deliver complex mechanical construction projects

Position Requirements

What We're Looking For

You don't need to know everything. We're looking for people who are eager to learn, work hard, and jump into real projects.

• Team player who can work with both field and office teams
• Organized and able to keep track of multiple tasks and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable, motivated, and excited to learn
• Curious about construction, engineering, and project management

Education

Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in:

• Construction Management
• Mechanical Engineering
• Architecture
• Or a related field

Tech Skills

You'll be successful if you're comfortable using:

• Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word

Bonus points if you've used:

• Microsoft Project
• AutoCAD or other CAD software
• Bluebeam
• Procore
• Vista by Viewpoint

Valid driver's license required.

This internship combines both office and jobsite experience, giving you a real look at how construction projects come together. You'll spend time collaborating with project teams in the office and visiting active jobsites where you may be exposed to construction equipment, loud noises, varying weather conditions, and a fast-paced work environment. The role involves a mix of sitting, walking, standing, climbing stairs, visiting jobsites, working on a computer, and occasionally lifting materials or equipment up to 35 pounds. A valid driver's license is required, as travel to project sites is part of the experience.
