The Food Services team serves to assist with the successful operation of the Food Services Ministry while supporting the team members, guests, volunteers and local community through Christ-filled love and respect. The Food Services Associate will clean the dishes after the meals, assist with cleanup of the kitchen/dining room, and assist with prepping for meals as needed.

Hours of Availability: 6:00am to 2:00pm and 3:30pm - 7:30pm shifts; Days may vary.

Status : Casual - up to 20 hours per week
Full Time 32 -40 hours per week

Compensation : $15.00

·  Demonstrated attention to detail/strong organizational skills to assist with multiple daily assignments and special projects. 
·  Ambitious to exceed expectations. 

Job Specific Qualifications: 

• Ability to operate an  industrial dishwasher; training provided 
• Able to follow instructions for Volume Cooking 
• Knowledge base of Kitchen Operation, Kitchen Equipment, and Food Safety.
• Compliance with Food Safety & Service standards
• ServSafe certification; preferred or willing to obtain at company expense

Career Summary:
Although the main function of this role is dishwashing, we serve in a variety of supportive roles to provide seamless processes for providing meals to our guests and the local community. Includes line plan, prepare and cook food items to ensure the highest quality service and experience. Volunteer coordinator, serve meals and ensure the kitchen, pantry and dining room are clean, safe and secure for each meal. Maintains the freezer and assist in planning and organizing special events.

All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.

Physical demands essential to performing the job duties of this position (not an all-inclusive list). 

• Extensive periods of standing, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing,  and pulling objects up to 50 pounds
• Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and/or push or pull up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Temperatures may vary depending on activity/events; indoor/outdoor exposure 
• Noise levels may vary depending on activity/event and/or location 
• Consistently - Communicating with others to exchange information; verbally and/or electronically 
• Frequent - Moving around to accomplish a task 
• Frequent– exposure to cleaning with general chemicals 
• Occasional computer use; computer screen exposure
