X-Lab Software Engineer
Blackstone Talent Group, an award-winning technology consulting and talent agency, is seeking an X-Lab Software Engineer to join our client's team.
We are seeking a software engineer to join a fast-paced engineering team supporting the development, integration, and testing of advanced software solutions within a complex defense environment. This role will contribute to the design and implementation of innovative technologies, user-facing applications, system integrations, and automation capabilities.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on software developer with strong Java experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, collaborating across teams, and working in an agile, rapidly evolving environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, test, and maintain software applications primarily using Java
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within large-scale distributed systems
- Design, develop, integrate, and support new software capabilities
- Participate in software testing, debugging, documentation, and implementation activities
- Follow technical specifications to create or modify application functionality
- Support system integration efforts and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams
- Develop automation tools and scripts to improve system efficiency and deployment processes
- Assist with benchmark testing, performance analysis, and software optimization
- Document technical activities, project plans, and engineering solutions
Required qualifications include:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- IAT Level II Certification
- Strong Java development experience
- Ability to work independently and within small collaborative teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting enterprise-level software applications
Security clearance required: Secret
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience developing command-and-control or mission-critical applications
- Experience with software integration and automated testing
- Experience creating automated test scripts and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with message translation or middleware technologies
- Experience designing and developing microservices architectures
- Experience working with containers and containerized deployments
- Experience configuring container environments
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, software design, and system development lifecycles
- Ability to create technical documentation, project plans, and summary reports
Position is located full-time in Colorado Springs, CO. This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote work.
