Engineer I/II

The City of Virginia Beach Development Services Center (DSC) with the Department of Planning and Community Development is seeking a Stormwater Engineer I/II to join our team. The DSC reviews and approves all site development plans for the City of Virginia Beach. The position may be classified as a Engineer II or Engineer III I depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Engineer I: $62,857.60 - $97,427.20 Engineer II: $69,298.32 - $107,412.40 Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Review site development plans, subdivision construction plans and as-built surveys, plats, legal documents and cost estimates for conformance with City and State regulations, codes and policies; Review stormwater management, drainage and grading, street improvements and other public and private infrastructure; Writing comments explaining required revisions; approving development plans and associated engineering calculations and reports; Position requires site visits to trouble shoot, compare plans with field conditions, and help resolve construction issues; Assist customers in a professional manner in person, by phone and e-mail, and participate in project meetings and staff team meetings to coordinate reviews; Virginia DEQ certifications as a stormwater and E and S Reviewer required within one year of employment; The City offers a generous benefits package, which includes health, dental and life insurance, retirement and savings plans, maternity/paternity and parental leave, holidays and leave.
