ED Technician (Full-time, Night Shift)

Job Title

Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Perform a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Perform essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT) or Paramedic (PM): Required

Essential Functions

• Assist the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Document patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintain state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assist in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritize patient care and department needs, set goals, and organize time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observe, document and report patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provide patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Document patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Record and collect specimens.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
