SUMMER INTERN - MEDICAL PRACTICE-4

Job Purpose The Medical Practice Summer Intern will support the medical practice team through the transition to electronic databases. The intern will gain hands‑on experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) programs. Job Responsibilities Assist with administration tasks including but not limited to the following: Sorting paper charts Review member charts for divided portions Removing staples, tape, sticky notes, and sign‑here flags Labeling each section to be scanned with a divider tab Ensuring each section has the proper documents for scanning Scanning into the O drive and the EMR Copying large documents prior to scanning Ensuring all documents are scanned double‑sided Applying the correct naming convention when scanning into the EMR Uploading all paperwork into the proper chart Confirming the labeling convention is correct Verifying all parts of the chart have been uploaded Maintaining and updating TEAMS databases with pertinent member information Reviewing charts for any missing documentation needed for audit and updating the database accordingly Securing and protecting patient privacy by disposing of scanned files into shredded bins after upload Performing other duties as assigned Weekly Hours: 40 | Schedule: 8:00AM – 5:00PM | Location: Allerton, Bronx | Duration: June26,2026 – MidAugust2026 Qualifications Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program, graduating in 2026 or 2027 Ability to pass a typing test with at least 40 WPM Strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) Physical Requirements Standing for up to 6 hours a day Sitting/Stationary positions for up to 8 hours a day Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds following OSHA guidelines Bending or squatting as needed to perform essential functions Stairs, steps, walking, and climbing to access work areas Agility and fine motor skills to operate equipment, type, and handle supplies Good vision for reading documentation and typing accurately Good hearing and language skills for listening, documenting, and communicating with patients and colleagues Good decision‑making, reasoning, and analysis skills to satisfy essential job functions Disclaimer: Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company.
