Prominent client within the professional services industry is looking to hire a Director of Accounting with proven experience reviewing corporate tax returns. This Director of Accounting will preferably have strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls. In this role you will manage the accounting team, conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance, monitor contract funding, expense accruals, provide internal and external audit management, maintain & resolve general ledger discrepancies, create solutions for process improvement, monitor cash flow, manage journal entry tracking, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings reconciliations, and payments. This individual will play a key role in managing intercompany activity, consolidations, and tax review while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting overall financial strategy.

What you get to do everyday

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with established accounting standards
• Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations to ensure accurate consolidated financial statements
• Lead the consolidation process across multiple entities, ensuring consistency and accuracy in financial reporting
• Review tax returns and supporting documentation prepared by an external CPA firm, ensuring accuracy and addressing discrepancies or follow-up items
• Oversee month-end and year-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support financial integrity and operational efficiency
• Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial professionals to support reporting, compliance, and audit requirements
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting practices, and financial systems
• Support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including government contract accounting requirements where applicable
• Collaborate with executive leadership to provide financial insights and support informed business decisions

The ideal Director of Accounting will have a Bachelors degree in Finance.

Other requirements for the Director of Accounting role include and are not limited to:

· 8+ years of accounting experience within the professional services industry

· CPA or MBA highly preferred

· MUST have Intercompany transactions/consolidations

· Government contracts experience preferred

· Strong GAAP knowledge

· Proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
