Electrical Project Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. The Electrical PM will be responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement, and client relationships while ensuring the successful execution of electrical systems within larger MEP projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial electrical construction, power distribution, lighting, controls, and coordination within complex construction environments. Responsibilities are similar to those outlined for construction project managers and MEP-focused project teams found in internal project management documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial electrical construction projects from award through completion.
• Oversee project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, billing, and profitability.
• Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and field operations.
• Review construction documents, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Manage procurement of switchgear, distribution equipment, lighting, generators, transformers, and related electrical systems.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and milestone tracking.
• Lead project kickoff, progress, and coordination meetings.
• Ensure adherence to safety requirements, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
• Support electrical field superintendents and foremen throughout project execution.
• Coordinate electrical work with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls teams.
• Negotiate and manage subcontractor and vendor contracts.
• Oversee project closeout activities, commissioning support, punch lists, and turnover documentation.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing commercial electrical construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems including: (Power distribution, Switchgear, Emergency power systems, Lighting systems, Low-voltage systems, Building controls integration)
• Experience managing project financials, schedules, and contract administration.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience managing subcontractors and field personnel.
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
