Management Auditor I/II

Description Salary Range: Management Auditor I: $71,586 - $107,380 annually. Management Auditor II: $87,014 - $130,520 annually. The City of Anaheim Audit Division offers a Management Auditor I or II position to conduct professional internal audits, including contract compliance, operational, performance, and hotel operator audits for Transient Occupancy Tax Code compliance. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field. At least one year of responsible auditing experience (two years for Management Auditor II). CPA or CIA certification desirable for I and required for II. Candidate attributes: strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, positive attitude. Preferred: local government or public sector internal auditing experience. Management Auditor I requires moderate supervision; Management Auditor II requires minimal supervision. Consideration will be based on qualifications. Essential Functions Establish project objectives and scope for financial, operational, and contract compliance audits, including utility contractors, enterprise contractors, activity contractors, and transient occupancy tax. Perform internal audits to determine legal and financial compliance, operational and program efficiency and effectiveness; examine accounts and reports for compliance with ordinances, regulations, and contracts. Audit various City departments, programs, and systems to assess effectiveness of programs and ensure appropriate controls and security measures are in place. Prepare and present formal written audit reports including findings and recommendations for correcting deficient operations, procedures, and practices. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications Experience and Education: One year for Management Auditor I or two years for Management Auditor II of responsible auditing experience supplemented by a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify. CPA or CIA certification desirable for I and required for II. Knowledge of audit procedures, accounting and auditing principles, standards for internal auditing, complex auditing controls, principles of auditing program development, data collection and statistical analysis, economics and taxation, public administration, municipal government organization, management practices, critical thinking, analysis, and appropriate software applications. Ability to interpret legal and financial information, conduct audit investigations, analyze accounting and auditing problems, develop data for reports, evaluate internal controls, implement manual and electronic auditing systems, use independent judgment, prioritize schedules, maintain confidentiality, and communicate clearly and concisely.
