Permanent | Remote | Compensation: $105,000 – $120,000

THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is proud to partner with a technology company specializing in smart grid solutions and utility modernization to recruit for two Field Project Managers, Electrical Utilities , working remotely in the Central United States (Texas through Missouri; Dallas or Houston ideal). They offer a dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment focused on solving complex technical challenges that directly support the electrification and decarbonization of modern infrastructure.

The client is seeking Field Project Managers, Electrical Utilities to join their Customer Operations team, reporting to the Manager of Project Management. This role is responsible for owning AMI deployments at utility customer sites from contract through final customer acceptance and invoicing, and for serving as the primary point of contact, trainer, and liaison for the customer. Within their first year, the successful candidate will be expected to run an AMI project independently from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

•       Own AMI projects end to end: review the contract and purchase order, build the scope of work and project plan, and lead the customer kickoff

•       Manage change across the utility's departments and keep project teams on track by setting clear expectations within small project groups

•       Serve as the primary customer contact, acting as trainer, coach, and liaison, and delivering on-site support, end-user training, and problem resolution

•       Work with the utility's IT team on system setup, configuration, and data import/export files, and provide first-line (tier 1) technical support

•       Oversee systems integration between the company's AMI platform and other utility vendor systems

•       Communicate with stakeholders at every level of the utility, from customer service and billing reps, meter technicians, and linemen to engineers, utility directors, general managers, and city council members

•       Negotiate, implement, and supervise subcontracts where required

•       Manage milestones through to commissioning, final customer acceptance, and invoicing, and report regularly on project status, time, and expenses to management and key stakeholders

Qualifications

•       Proven project management experience, including writing scopes of work and project plans, delivering milestones, and closing out projects

•       4+ years of experience contributing to or leading technology implementation or deployment projects delivered directly to customers

•       Strong customer-facing communication skills and confidence training customers, with demonstrated experience managing customer and stakeholder relationships

•       Natural group leadership, including keeping customer teams on track and setting clear expectations

•       IT and technical aptitude, including comfort with system setup, configuration, and import/export files, and the ability to provide tier 1 technical support

•       Troubleshooting mindset: understands data flows, dependencies, and connectivity, and is eager to learn the company's troubleshooting methods

•       Four-year Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Operations Management, Engineering (Computer, Electrical, or Systems), or a related field

•       Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% (roughly one week per month)

•       Comfortable working 100% remotely; must reside in the Central time zone (Texas through Missouri, with Dallas or Houston preferred) and within one hour of a major US airport

•       Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills

•       Systems or data integration experience

•       Familiarity with utility or energy sector operations, including AMI or smart grid rollouts

•       Experience in the deployment or installation of utility-tech, telemetry, control, or communications systems

•       Familiarity with hardware such as meters, gateways, and repeaters

•       Experience in AMI/AMR, RF, or wireless communications systems

•       PMP designation

What Success Looks Like

•       Within one year, runs AMI projects independently from contract review through final customer acceptance and invoicing

•       Projects are delivered on time, on scope, and with a high degree of customer satisfaction

•       Customers and utility end users feel well-supported, well-trained, and well-informed throughout the deployment lifecycle

•       Complex technical and data integrations are managed smoothly with minimal disruption to the customer

•       Stakeholder relationships, both internal and external, are proactively maintained and well-managed

•       Issues and risks are identified early and resolved with sound judgment and minimal escalation
