Details Work in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of an acute care teaching hospital Adult patient population with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery and stroke management Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring Care also includes neuro-specific diagnoses and medical overflow patients Patient ratios of 1:4-5 Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45pm to 7:15am Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling block Floating required to units within clinical skillset EPIC charting experience required Requirements Active VA State or Compact RN license required; single-state license from a non-compact state may be accepted as pending Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 1 year of RN experience required EPIC charting experience required Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration required) Skilled in respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols Previous charge nurse experience preferred Additional Information Provide neuro-specific nursing care including neurosurgical recovery and stroke management Support continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring for dedicated patients Facility is a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school Certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with 24/7 neurointerventional coverage Must work one holiday per 13-week contract Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks First-time travelers are welcome to apply Local candidates accepted under specific radius rules Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler Travelers who have completed 365 days on assignment may not return, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case by facility leadership American Traveler Job ID P-723656.
