Groundskeeper

The position is responsible for routine work in caring for and the maintenance of school grounds.

1. Trims shrubbery and maintains shrubs and flower beds.
2. Mows, seeds, and fertilizes lawns.
3. Operates a variety of automotive and landscaping equipment.
4. Assists with custodial duties, carpentry, repair of landscaping equipment, and painting.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Possession of a valid driver's license.

Ability to follow rough sketches and oral instruction.

Knowledge of methods and equipment in the care or maintenance of school grounds and/or the ability to be trained in the area of landscape maintenance.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.

The individual must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to operate landscaping equipment; see and read equipment indications and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal room levels and outdoors, and on the telephone; speak clearly in audible tones so that others may understand in normal rooms and outdoors; lift up to 50 pounds; and bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, walk, and reach overhead.

Duties are normally performed in an outdoor or school environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
