Location & commitments

Full Time/Part Time/Temporary/Supplemental roles based at our Farmville location, Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Early and late hours required. Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care of, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.

Supervision Received: Reports to Clinical Supervisor; Operations or Clinical Manager; Director of Operations.

Supervision Exercised: None.

Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids.

Typical Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

About the role

The Nursing Assistant performs under the direction of a physician, mid-level provider, RN, or LPN and within the framework of the office policies and procedures for the clinical department

Responsibilities : (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

• Complete Prior Authorizations. 
• Assist patient to complete health history. 
• Perform accurate measurement of vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight and height. 
• Record all allergies, medications, and pertinent lab work
• Assist the physician or mid-level provider with common procedures which involve little or no modification from one situation to another and may be performed with a predictable outcome. 
  1. EKG 
  2. Assist with Pap smears
  3. Set up sterile tray
  4. Assist patients via lifting and turning as needed utilizing proper body mechanics
  5. Assist patient to and from vehicle via wheelchair as needed. 
  6. Communicate effectively with patients and staff. 
  7. Maintains patient confidentiality.
  8. Perform errands as delegated by station supervisor.
  9. Restock and cleans exam rooms maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
  10. Keep clinical supervisor informed of high-risk situations.
  11. Demonstrate appropriate use in cleaning of equipment. 
  12. Practice infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy. 
  13. Maintain yearly CPR certification
  14. Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East, PA
  15. Presents a professional image and follows dress code as per office policy. 

Other duties:

• Maintains patient confidentially.
• Keep management informed of high-risk situations.
• Demonstrate appropriate use in cleaning of equipment.
• Practice infection control, following OSHA guidelines and office policy.
• Maintain CPR certification.
• Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance, and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East.
• Adheres to department and office policies.

Candidate requirements

• Graduate of an accredited degree Respiratory Therapist program and current license through NCRCB is required. Prior healthcare giver experience required.
• Experience in electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software required.
• Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate and interact professionally with others. 
• Ability to actively listen. 
• Ability to observe and to draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically correct English. 
• Ability to spell, proofread and edit written text.
