Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week, generally three 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Rotation: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
• Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday
• Orientation: 12 hours, with biweekly orientation scheduling
• Float Expectations: First to float within your skill set; occasional nearby campus floating may be required with advance notice
• Patient-to-Nurse Ratios: Approximately 1:5–7 on nights

Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; current compact license required
• At least 2 years of strong cardiac and telemetry nursing experience
• At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
• Trauma Level II experience
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Recent Epic charting experience and willingness to complete a required system checkoff
• Ability to pass telemetry competency testing, including 12-lead ECG interpretation
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Adaptability, resilience, professionalism, and a collaborative approach to patient care

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to high-acuity medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
• Monitor and care for patients with cardiac conditions including atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, atrial fibrillation, flutter, heart blocks, post-ablation recovery, and heart catheterization without intervention.
• Care for patients with congestive heart failure, COPD, sepsis, behavioral health needs, CIWA protocols, and renal conditions requiring dialysis.
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead ECG results and promptly identify changes in patient condition.
• Initiate and titrate appropriate infusions, including antiarrhythmics, heparin, amiodarone, diltiazem, furosemide, and pantoprazole, according to orders and policy.
• Perform peripheral IV insertion and manage chest tubes, indwelling drains, continuous bladder irrigation, nephrostomy tubes, and other specialized equipment.
• Complete thorough assessments, accurate Epic documentation, medication administration, and timely provider communication.
• Float within the nurse’s competency area and support team operations as patient-care needs change.
• Participate in a teaching environment that may include precepting students or newly hired staff.
