Scheduling Senior Coordinator Department: James | James Ambulatory Scheduling Location: Polaris Pkwy, 2001 (0836) Scope and Responsibilities The Revenue Cycle for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is accountable for providing excellent customer service while accurately and efficiently processing patient demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, procedures, surgeries, and admissions, and continuously supporting patient and payer billing tasks and cash collection responsibilities. Key tasks include: Processing patient demographic and insurance data Scheduling appointments, procedures, surgeries, and admissions Coordinating patient and payer billing tasks and cash collection Providing pre‑surgical/procedural testing and consults, cardiac clearance, dental clearance, treatment planning, patient education, and research appointments Performing full registration duties as needed Executing pre‑certification and financial counseling, requiring basic knowledge of insurance and payer options Efficiently communicating with physicians, clinical staff, payers, and patients to coordinate requests and provide clear information Utilizing multiple EMR platforms (Cadence, Optime, Aria, Ambra, IHIS, ABN, eligibility, document management, medical imaging, payor platforms) Assisting with training and support for new staff and student interns when necessary Qualifications Minimum Qualifications for Hire: High school diploma or GED (certification or vocational training may be required) At least 2 years of relevant experience Strong problem‑solving and customer‑service skills Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a busy environment Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s Degree and 4‑6 years of experience in a healthcare setting, revenue cycle department, or customer service role Experience with Cadence, Optime, Aria, Ambra, and medical terminology Demonstrated ability to work in multiple systems for assigned tasks, management, and reporting Employment Details Type: Regular Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Benefits Medical, dental and vision coverage, with Ohio State paying a significant portion of the cost Paid time off, including sick and vacation time and 11 holidays State retirement plan or an alternative retirement plan, both with generous employer contributions Equal Opportunity Statement The university is an equal opportunity employer, including veterans and disability.
