Position Summary:
\n We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Ultrasound Technologist-Woodhull.

\n In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing medically prescribed nuclear medicine procedures. Works under general supervision to ensure high-quality diagnostic results while maintaining patient safety and regulatory compliance. \n

Job Responsibilities:

\n

Patient Care & Procedure Execution

\n

\n
• Verify patient identity using approved protocols and review physician orders for accuracy 
\n
• Explain procedures clearly and obtain consent when required 
\n
• Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring comfort, privacy, and safety 
\n
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals and perform imaging and non-imaging procedures per established protocols 
\n
• Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond to any adverse reactions or emergencies 
\n
• Adjust imaging techniques and protocols based on patient condition and clinical indications 
\n

\n

Imaging & Technical Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment, including gamma cameras and related systems 
\n
• Acquire, process, and evaluate diagnostic images for quality and completeness 
\n
• Format, archive, and transmit imaging data to PACS in proper anatomical presentation 
\n
• Perform data analysis and provide results to physicians for interpretation 
\n
• Troubleshoot technical issues and adapt procedures to optimize diagnostic outcomes 
\n

\n

Radiopharmaceutical & Radiopharmacy Duties

\n

\n
• Prepare, calculate, and verify radiopharmaceutical doses using appropriate techniques and dose calibrators 
\n
• Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with safety regulations 
\n
• Perform generator elution and prepare radiopharmaceuticals per manufacturer guidelines 
\n
• Conduct wipe tests and ensure proper labeling and handling of radioactive materials 
\n

Radiation Safety & Compliance

\n

\n
• Adhere to all radiation safety protocols and regulatory requirements 
\n
• Minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self 
\n
• Perform contamination surveys and decontamination procedures as required 
\n
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations 
\n

\n

 

\n

Quality Control & Documentation

\n

\n
• Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment and dose calibrators 
\n
• Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical preparation, administration, and disposal 
\n
• Document imaging procedures, patient interactions, and quality assurance activities 
\n
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all required logs and reports 
\n

Systems & Workflow Management

\n

\n
• Utilize Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and PACS 
\n
• Accurately document patient workflow, including exam start, completion, and departure times 
\n
• Schedule and modify exams as needed within system workflows 
\n
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of work areas and equipment 
\n

Collaboration & Support

\n

\n
• Assist physicians during procedures as needed 
\n
• Coordinate with healthcare team members to ensure efficient patient care 
\n
• Adapt workflow to accommodate STAT and emergency cases 
\n
• Recognize and escalate medical emergencies appropriately 
\n

\n

 

\n

Education & Additional Duties

\n

\n
• Provide guidance and supervision to students during clinical training 
\n
• Evaluate student performance and support skill development 
\n
• Perform other duties as assigned
\n

\n

 

\n

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

\n

\n
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment (up to 150 lbs., with or without assistive devices) 
\n
• Prolonged standing and walking 
\n
• Exposure to radioactive materials (with appropriate safety controls) 
\n
• Flexible scheduling, including potential evenings, weekends, or on-call coverage .
\n

\n

Minimum Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Associate's Degree or Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
\n
• New York State Radiologic Technologist License in Nuclear Medicine. 
\n
• ARRT in Nuclear Medicine or NMTCB Certification.
\n
• BLS Certification.
\n

\n

Preferred Qualifications:
\n Completion of a Bachelor's Degree or baccalaureate degree in nuclear medicine technology.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $107,944.08 - $119,853.18 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
