PLC Technician

The PLC Technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on complex industrial manufacturing equipment, with a strong focus on PLC-controlled systems. This role involves diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical issues, supporting equipment installation and commissioning, and ensuring reliable and efficient operation of production machinery.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on complex manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC/HMI diagnostics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
• Repair and replace motors, drives, sensors, actuators, valves, cylinders, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors as needed.
• Troubleshoot basic PLC-controlled equipment and identify issues related to I/O, sensors, actuators, and communication signals.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting using appropriate meters and test equipment to verify circuits, components, and system performance.
• Conduct detailed equipment inspections and determine root causes of recurring failures, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and qualification activities to ensure proper integration and functionality.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to prioritize work, share technical insights, and maintain equipment documentation.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on PLC troubleshooting experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience performing repairs on industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
• Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, including I/O, sensor, actuator, and communication diagnostics.
• Ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
• Experience using meters and diagnostic test equipment for electrical and electronic troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability to repair and replace industrial components such as motors, drives, sensors, actuators, valves, cylinders, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs is a strong plus.
• Previous cleanroom maintenance experience is preferred.
• Exposure to PLC programming is beneficial.
• Background in industrial manufacturing maintenance environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in an industrial manufacturing environment working with complex, PLC-controlled equipment and a variety of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The technician regularly uses diagnostic tools, electrical meters, and test equipment while working on motors, drives, sensors, actuators, valves, cylinders, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors. Some work may be performed in cleanroom areas where adherence to cleanliness and procedural standards is important. The environment is hands-on and technical, requiring safe work practices around machinery and electrical systems, with appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment aligned to industrial and cleanroom maintenance activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Tan Valley, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
