Principal Data Scientist

PLEX Solutions, A Part of Markon, is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to support a contract in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments. May supervise others.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines for enterprise AI applications including defining appropriate data model concepts
• Develop high-performance data parsers for extremely large and complex datasets
• Implement and manage various database systems, including graph, SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers and data scientists to understand data requirements and optimize data access and retrieval for AI models
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data storage solutions
• Support the deployment and maintenance of AI applications by providing expert data engineering capabilities
• Familiarity with AI concepts in the context of data storage, access, and retrieval
• Continuously optimize data infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI W/ Polygraph
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 8 years of experience; an advanced degree will be considered in lieu of years of experience
• Proficient in Python
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with end-to-end workflows/projects
• 3+ years of Defensive Cyber Operations experience
• 3+ years of Machine Learning techniques and statistical model evaluation

Desired Skills:

• Master's degree in relevant field and 4 years of experience
• Demonstrated expertise with R or Python, and SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large and small data sets
• Exposure to AWS (Amazon Web Services), Cisco (CCNA), and/or STIGs/IAVA, Big Data Platform (BDP)
• Strong background and skills in Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)/Windows/Virtual environments
• A problem solver who can get in, be given a project, and use engineering skills to determine a solution
• Jupyter Notebooks, Network Analysis Tools

Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $210,000.00 /Yr. The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
