Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City's leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults throughout Manhattan and New York City. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville, and seek to deliver programs that are impactful, innovative, and intergenerational.Position Summary: The Driver will drive and maintain a vehicle used to deliver meals for community members who are in need of food assistance. The Isaacs Center has partnered with Dandelion Food Shed to receive 1000 pounds of fresh produce each week from Hepworth Farm, located in Milton, NY, to the Isaacs Center. The driver will be responsible for picking up the produce order and delivering it to the center at the beginning of each shift.Schedule: Part-time ( 8-12 hours per week)Hourly Rate: $22.00Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential DutiesPicks-up and delivers meals to community membersPicks-up and drops-off weekly wholesale produce order from Hepworth Farm to the Isaacs Center, approximately 155 miles round-tripObserve client and their surrounding area; report concerns as needed.Keeps vehicles clean and in good operating condition, assist with the oversight of maintenance of vehicle.Inspects vehicles daily and reports any operational or structural defects immediately.Reviews vehicle documentation to ensure inspections, registration and insurance information is up-to-date.Maintains accurate daily log of deliveriesAssists in scheduling meal deliveries to minimize time and distance between delivery.Keeps daily gasoline and mileage records.Picks-up and returns vehicles to garage or parking place daily.Qualifications:High School Diploma is preferredA valid NYS Driver's License2 or more years of driving experience in NYC or high traffic areasNo more than 1 moving violation in 24 monthsAbility to stoop, bend, lift and carry up to 50 + lbsDemonstrated sensitivity to an aging populationBilingual English/Spanish is a plusAbility to work holidays at times, with advance notice, based on distribution needsAbility to work flexible hours including early mornings, if neededWe are committed to building an inclusive workplace community grounded in respect for differences.
