Database Replication Engineer (SQL Server / IBM CDC / IMS)

Position Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Database Replication Engineer to own and support a production-critical data replication environment spanning IMS (z/OS), IBM InfoSphere CDC (IDR), SQL Server Replication, and cloud-based data platforms . The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server replication, IBM CDC Replication, T-SQL, and cross-platform data integration, with the ability to independently manage a complex operational environment.

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting replication services, ensuring reliable data movement across platforms, executing controlled operational changes, and resolving performance and replication issues. They will operate with minimal oversight, leveraging existing documentation and knowledge transfer, while maintaining and enhancing operational procedures and runbooks.

This is an ownership and sustainment role within a client-facing environment. The successful candidate will take end-to-end ownership of an established data replication platform, ensuring operational stability, service continuity, and long-term support of critical business data flows.

Required Experience

Minimum Experience

• 10+ years of experience in database administration, replication, data integration, or enterprise data platforms.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server Replication and/or IBM InfoSphere CDC (IDR).
• Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale replication and data integration environments.
• Experience with IMS (z/OS), SQL Server, Oracle, and hybrid cloud data platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience working in client-facing environments and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
• Experience with operational governance, documentation, runbooks, knowledge transfer, and controlled change management.

Mandatory Technical Skills

· Toad / SQL Developer

· ServiceNow

· Notepad++ or equivalent for the file text searches

· IBM Infosphere Classic Data Architect.

Operating Systems

· Linux tools (via PuTTY or equivalent)

· Windows server tools

Strongly Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale data replication and integration environments across mainframe, distributed, and cloud platforms.
• Experience designing and supporting cross-platform data replication architectures, including IMS (z/OS), SQL Server Replication, IBM InfoSphere CDC (IDR), and cloud data targets.
• Experience with operational governance, change management, service continuity, and knowledge-transfer processes in production-critical environments.
• Experience troubleshooting data synchronization, replication latency, data consistency, and performance issues across complex replication ecosystems.
• Experience designing and supporting platforms that accommodate scheduled outages, delayed processing, recovery scenarios, and high-availability requirements. xhyhwjd
• Experience maintaining operational runbooks, technical documentation, support standards, and repeatable operational processes.
• Experience collaborating with application teams, infrastructure teams, database administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient data delivery

Certifications (Preferred)

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
• IBM Certified Specialist – InfoSphere Data Replication
• IBM z/OS or IMS Administration Certification (preferred)
• Oracle Database Administration Certification (preferred)
