Experience: Minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, outside of training. Must have traveling experience (minimum of 3 travel assignments). Comfortable with EPIC charting. Comfortable with circulating in the operating room; experience with scrubbing is a bonus but not necessary. Experience with Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) or Mother-Baby Couple Care.

Description: The unit averages 105 births per month. The average number of deliveries is approximately 100 per month. RNs are required to manage the entire labor process independently due to limited staff support. Travelers should be ready to assist with holidays and work weekends as needed. Floating to Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, PACU, and to circulate in the operating room is required. RNs must be confident, competent, and professional while managing patient expectations for customer service. No midwives or mid-level providers are available, so strong skills in all areas of LDRP are necessary. Charge nurses or house supervisors do not take patient assignments most of the time. Neonatologists are available on call but not in-house; response time is approximately 30 minutes. The unit supports a high-risk patient population and follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios. The nursing staff is expected to find tasks during downtime and continuously engage in patient care activities. Nurses should have experience managing titratable drips, including magnesium, pitocin, and insulin. Additional experience with high-risk deliveries, including twin deliveries, is advantageous.
