About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 Years Required License: Valid State Compact License Required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Experience in Postpartum and Newborn Care - Ability to float to NICU or L&D as required - Must work weekends to meet staffing needs Description: The position requires 2 years of experience in a similar setting. Candidates must not be first-time travelers. Certifications needed include BLS and NRP. Floating to NICU or L&D may be necessary. Weekend work is required to meet staffing needs. The unit specializes in postpartum vaginal or cesarean deliveries, along with tubal ligation and circumcision procedures. In addition, candidates should be comfortable with GYN surgeries and couplet care. Responsibilities will include blood and blood products administration, management of drains, and familiarity with epidural pumps. Candidates must also have experience in the use of PCA pumps, syringe pumps, wound vacs, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. The role involves OB-GYN and post-operative care for both vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Nurses will manage postpartum readmissions and provide normal newborn care, including thermoregulation and glucose management. Skills in discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, and newborn assessment are essential. Familiarity with phototherapy, thermoregulation, and post-epidural management is also required. Candidates must be proficient in opioid management and pain assessment. Additionally, knowledge of bladder assessment, Foley catheter insertion, and breastfeeding instructions is expected. The candidate should be experienced in incision care, fundus management, and care of lochia and perineum. Experience in the use of electric or manual breast pumps, as well as knowledge of postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension, is also necessary.
