Location: CHA Cambridge Hospital Work Days: Mon - Fri 07:00 - 15:30 with rotating weekends, holidays, on-call Category: Allied Health Department: Cytology/Histology Job Type: Full time Work Shift: Day Hours/Week: 40.00 Union: Yes Union Name: CH Laborers 380 Lab Sign-on Bonus: Up to $10,000 for ASCP certified Cytotechnologists, based on experience The CHA laboratory provides a range of services from routine blood and urine tests to tissue evaluation. Job Purpose: Utilizes clinical laboratory technology principles to perform and report tests, promoting efficient laboratory operation and effective patient care. Responsibilities: Understand and adhere to quality control protocols. Perform quality control tests as per guidelines, reporting outliers and recording data. Perform daily and monthly instrument procedures accurately. Troubleshoot QC and instrument failures, contacting technical support as needed. Familiar with cytology preparation, staining, and cover slipping techniques. Screens and diagnoses gynecologic (PAP smears) and non-gynecologic cytology smears, responsible for final diagnosis of negatives. Understand lab workflow and assist with problem-solving. Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications/Requirements: BS/BA in biological sciences and CT (ASCP) certification.
