Position Overview Join our team as an Emergency & Critical Care Veterinary Triage Assistant who supports the veterinarians and technicians in their daily tasks by cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical and administrative work. They deliver quality care for all patients and provide exceptional service. Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, MD is one of the oldest and best‑known specialty veterinary and 24/7 emergency hospitals in the country, with around‑the‑clock emergency care available every day of the year, no appointment required. The AAHA‑accredited team includes board‑certified specialists in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Physical Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. We actively promote cross training in all departments. Ideal Candidate’s Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong technical skills: IVC placement, phlebotomy, radiology, and vital signs assessment Proficient in safe patient restraint techniques. Proactive team player with excellent communication and client service skills. Friendly, outgoing, and people oriented. Demonstrates sound decision‑making and multitasking abilities in high‑stress situations. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position. 2+ years’ experience as a veterinary assistant is preferred. Must have strong basic technician skills (IVC placement and maintenance, phlebotomy, radiology, process in‑house lab work, clear and concise communication with clients and doctors/staff). Job Type: Full‑time Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 6:00pm-7:00am (overnight shift) 24 hours of on‑call each month is required Additional Information: The list of essential functions and additional functions, as outlined in this job description, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this position.
