Position Summary

Prestige Healthcare Resources, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a renowned Substance Abuse Treatment Program. Required Core Competencies

• Phlebotomy and injection administration

• Knowledge in the fields of medicine, anatomy, and physiology. Preference for experience with behavioral health and substance abuse addiction background.

Duties

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.

• Ensures all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment

• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medicalrecords; keeping patient information confidential.

• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations; Assist Nurse Practitioner, RN, and MD in exam rooms

• Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

• Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; Properly disposes of contaminated supplies

• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt

• Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)

• Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls

• Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings

• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations

• Interviews patients to obtain their medical history

• Records patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files.

• Performs routine screening tests, such as height, weight, blood pressure checks, pregnancy testing, PPD, HIV/HCV.

• Other duties, as assigned

• Care Coordination (intra/inter agency with hospitals, ER, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, pharmacy, etc

• Assists with Discharge Medical Planning or moving client to higher LOC and submission of records to QI team for medical auditing. Alerts MD/NP for patients who need to move from outpatient to inpatient when having irregulaties/abnormalties in labs or office visits/ or who leave against medical advice

• Ensures ROI and Telemedicine consents are signed and uploaded in patient profile

• Assists with new enrollments and patient intakes and documents via the EMR

• Triage/Assessments

• Submits weekly billable services (outlined in KPIs upon hiring)

• Checks all patients into the lab appointments and ensures results from other EMR are uploaded into PHRIs EMR, notifies QI of discrepancies, labs failures, biohazard medical waste disposals, sharp disposals pick up, testing failures, inconclusive testing and documents within 24 hours per regulation

• Meets weekly for supervision with NP or MD

• Will document minimum 24 billable hours weekly

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent substitute.

• Minimum Experience: 2 years; combined education/experience as substitute for minimum

experience.

• Minimum Certifications and/or Licenses: CPR and first aid certification required; certification as a medical assistant (MA/CMA) preferred. Class on bloodborne pathogens/OSHA

• Minimum Skills: Experience with EMR, MS Word, Excel, MS outlook, MS Teams, AI tool

integrations for EMRs.

• MA Certification in the District of Columbia is required

• Background check required on hire

Physical Demands

• Occasionally walk, sit, stand; use of hands and fingers; ability to reach with hands and arms;

occasionally lift moderate weight (25-50 pounds)

• Drug screening required on hire and periodically after initial hiring
