The Nurse Manager is accountable for nursing practice, medication management, regulatory readiness, quality improvement initiatives, staffing effectiveness, and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Clinical Leadership
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, training and consultation to all nursing staff.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and person-centered care.
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff regarding client care, medications, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure continuity and coordination of nursing services across all shifts.
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care.
- Monitor quality indicators and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Review client care plans to ensure appropriate nursing interventions and documentation.
- Participate in incident review, root cause analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Promote client safety and infection prevention practices.
- Maintain compliance with:
- Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS)
- Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), as applicable
- DEA requirements
- Board of Nursing standards
- Federal and State regulations
- CARF and other accreditation standards, when applicable
- Ensure nursing documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.
- Participate in licensing surveys, audits, and corrective action planning.
- Maintain required reports, records, quality metrics, and statistics.
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, coach, and retain qualified nursing staff in partnership with Human Resources.
- Supervise nursing personnel, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Trained Medication Aides (TMAs), as applicable.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching conversations, and corrective action consistent with EOSIS policies.
- Ensure staff maintain required competencies, certifications, and licensure.
- Coordinate orientation and ongoing education for nursing staff.
- Validate and document TMA competencies.
- Develop and monitor nursing schedules to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Assist with staffing coverage during emergencies while maintaining budget expectations.
- Provide clinical on-call support for nursing staff according to organizational expectations.
- Support admission processes by providing timely nursing review and admission decisions when appropriate.
- Collaborate with Program Directors regarding staffing, workflow, and operational priorities.
- Oversee medication administration practices.
- Ensure compliance with controlled substance policies and procedures.
- Monitor medication storage, security, inventory, reconciliation, and disposal.
- Collaborate with pharmacy providers to resolve medication-related concerns.
- Ensure medication errors are investigated, documented, and addressed appropriately.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health providers, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care.
- Maintain effective communication with the EOSIS Medical Director and consulting providers.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning and leadership meetings.
- Promote positive working relationships across departments.
- Maintain accurate nursing records and required reports.
- Monitor department performance metrics.
- Participate in budgeting and resource planning as requested.
- Assist with policy development and implementation.
- Lead or participate in committees, projects, and organizational initiatives.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge clients in accordance with facility policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) may be accepted as an equivalent organizational requirement if preferred by EOSIS..
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, residential treatment, or a related healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading clinical teams, managing staff performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of medication management, quality improvement, and nursing operations .
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota in good standing.
- Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within established organizational timeframe).
- Current First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within established organizational timeframe).
- Valid driver's license, if required for the position.
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate abstract concepts in a simple format
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
- Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities
- Computer skills to draft emails, memos, and reporting
- Cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field .
- Three (3) or more years of nursing leadership experience.
- Experience in residential substance use disorder treatment or co-occurring behavioral health programs.
- Experience with Minnesota DHS/245G regulations and licensing requirements.
- Experience with CARF accreditation or other behavioral health accreditation standards.
- Experience leading quality improvement initiatives, regulatory surveys, and clinical performance programs.
- Experience supervising Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Trained Medication Aides (TMAs).
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation platforms .
- Social Security Verification: Name must match Social Security number and date of birth
- Criminal Background Check: Nationwide, federal, state, and multi-county (up to 7 years)
- Drug and Alcohol Testing: Must pass pre-employment screening; subject to random and post-incident testing if in a safety-sensitive role

Physical Requirements
- Hearing: Ability to hear employees, clients, telephone conversations, and other communications.

- Sitting: Up to 6 hours continuously.

- Standing: Approximately 1-2 hours per day.

- Travel: Up to 15% between EOSIS program locations as needed.
- Stair climbing: Minimal, depending on assigned location.
- Must be able to successfully complete a Mantoux (TB) screening if required.
- Work is performed across EOSIS treatment facilities and related community settings.
- Fast-paced healthcare environment with changing priorities and operational demands.
- Frequent interaction with individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Requires flexibility to support multiple programs, locations, and organizational initiatives .
