About This Organization University of North Carolina – Charlotte Job Title Facility Planner – Signage (Facility Planner II) Position Details Employment Type: Permanent – Full-time Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm (eligible for one telework day per week per supervisor’s permission) Salary Range: $62,115 – $78,500 per year Location: FM/PPS, Charlotte, NC Department Facilities Management (Adm) Primary Purpose The Planning, Design, and Construction department manages the design and planning of informal and capital projects for the university community. The Facility Planner – Signage supports this department by researching, designing, assisting, and managing all aspects of interior and exterior building signage and maintaining the Design and Construction guidelines related to signage. Responsibilities Conduct short-term and long‑range signage planning, development, maintenance, and replacement. Review design plans and specifications for functionality, programming needs, technical specifications, design efficiency, and building code compliance. Translate conceptual ideas into specific programming, project design, and space layout. Develop and manage related databases and prioritize capital improvement projects. Direct the work of vendors and/or contractors. Collaborate with campus stakeholders and external vendors to create formal signage plans for proposed facilities or renovations. Develop projected cost estimates based on cost trends. Conduct planning meetings and serve as liaison with outside designers, reviewing agencies, facilities services personnel, county, and local government officials. Apply graphic design and project‑management skills to meet university standards. Qualifications Graduation from a four‑year college or university with a degree in the area of assignment and at least four years of professional experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of industry standards and design principles for building signage. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Strong customer service orientation and ability to anticipate and respond to requests for information and assistance. Flexible and innovative with the ability to manage responsibilities and multiple priorities in a time‑critical environment. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism. Effective communication skills (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension). Proficient in Adobe SUITE (Illustrator, Photoshop), AutoCAD, Trimble, Google SketchUp and Layout, Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project planning), and related software. Member of appropriate graphic design or related professional organizations. Possession or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment. Certifications & Licenses Valid driver’s license.
