Collections Manager

Museum Education & Public Programs Coordinator Location: Chandler, Arizona, United States (on-site) Job Type: Full-time – Indefinite duration Salary: $73,819.00 – $106,995.00 per year The City of Chandler Cultural Development Department seeks an experienced education leader to develop and oversee inclusive, engaging learning experiences for children, families, adults, and school groups at the Chandler Museum. The role involves scheduling regular weekday hours (40 hours per week, Tuesday‑Friday) and occasional weekend work (limited to every other weekend). Responsibilities include program development, staff training, data‑driven evaluation, and collaboration with community partners. Responsibilities Supervise and oversee daily operations of the education program, setting goals, managing schedules, and evaluating performance. Assist the Museum Manager and Senior Program Manager with program development, implementation, and alignment with the museum’s strategic plan. Collaborate with other institutions and community partners to expand outreach. Develop educational materials and presentations for exhibits and public programs. Plan and execute educational activities, including school group visits, summer camps, workshops, and public programs aligned with museum exhibitions. Develop field‑trip programs in partnership with local school districts. Oversee the creation of interactive exhibit components and ensure programs match educational objectives. Analyze visitor feedback and program effectiveness, report findings to stakeholders, and recommend improvements. Manage, train, and schedule education staff, educators, docents, and interns, including hiring and performance evaluations. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, social science, public history, or related field. Minimum Experience: Three (3) years in a museum setting and three (3) years in education/programming within a museum. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Knowledge of museum operating procedures, exhibit planning, collections management, and educational programming. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to interpret and apply OSHA, city health, and safety regulations. Strong supervisory, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Basic computer proficiency and ability to operate standard office equipment. Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and to work in an office environment. Minimum Qualifications – A bachelor’s degree in museum studies, social science, public history or related field; three (3) years of experience within a museum setting; three (3) years of experience in education and programming within a museum setting; a valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
