The Opportunity WR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead the design, development, integration, and qualification of electromechanical systems supporting advanced naval platforms. This role goes beyond the engineering design. You will help bring complex systems from concept to deployment. You will develop and refine mechanical designs, create detailed technical data packages, support system integration, and ensure products meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will translate concepts into robust, mission-ready solutions that can withstand the demanding environments of fleet operations. Your expertise will directly contribute to the delivery of reliable, high-quality systems supporting critical naval missions. What You’ll Work On Design and develop electromechanical systems and mechanical components for naval applications Review and refine bill of materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability Create and maintain detailed technical data packages (TDPs) to support production and lifecycle management Develop 3D models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor Support and contribute to environmental qualification testing (temperature, vibration, humidity, etc.) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across mechanical, electrical, and system components Support prototype development, testing, and design iteration Ensure compliance with applicable military and industry standards What Makes This Role Different You’re not just designing parts, you’re ensuring systems survive real-world conditions at sea You’ll work across the full lifecycle: concept → design → analysis → testing → deployment Your designs will directly support mission readiness and operational reliability You’ll bridge the gap between engineering design and real-world performance Who This Role Is For This role is ideal for an engineer who: Thinks beyond CAD models and considers how things actually perform in the field Enjoys solving practical challenges like heat dissipation, durability, and manufacturability Takes pride in creating systems that are not only functional—but reliable under pressure Wants to lead design efforts and influence how systems are built and delivered Must-have Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Six (6)+ years of full-time professional experience working as a Mechanical Engineer. Experience working with CAD software (AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor preferred) with strong knowledge of 3D modeling, Bills of Materials (BOM), and manufacturing documentation. Ability to evaluate cost, manufacturability, and quality considerations in engineering designs. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs Familiarity with MIL-STD environmental requirements Experience with product lifecycle support from concept through production Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers Clearance Requirement Active DoD security clearance The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate’s suitability for the position. Position Salary Range: $93,000 - $134,000. The listed salary range represents the typical range for this position. WR bases the offered salary on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, knowledge, and skills, scope and responsibilities of the position, and market and business considerations.
