Director, Product Design - Global Enterprise Affairs & Accelerator

Overview

Capital One is seeking a Director, Product Design for its Global Enterprise Affairs & Accelerator program. The role leads a cross‑disciplinary design team that partners with product, technology, and research leaders to create innovative, customer‑centric experiences across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the vision and roadmap for integration experiences, setting strategic priorities with minimal oversight.
• Influence and align high‑stakes initiatives across functional areas and senior leadership, demonstrating executive presence.
• Navigate ambiguity, making decisive choices with incomplete data and pivoting without losing momentum.
• Scale the design organization, design future structure, and develop team members while leveraging technology to broaden design impact.
• Drive high‑impact, complex projects; define and execute design strategy that supports business objectives.

Role Expectations

• Leverage deep product‑design expertise across interaction, visual, and service design.
• Lead with inclusive, collaborative culture, championing diverse voices and customer outcomes.
• Apply business acumen, industry trends, and data insights to shape effective design solutions.
• Collaborate across teams, platforms, and lines of business to accelerate delivery and elevate design value.
• Communicate strategically, integrating design frameworks, research, and data to influence senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications :
  • At least 8 years of product‑design experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of design‑team leadership.
• Preferred Qualifications :
  • At least 10 years in product design.
  • Minimum 5 years leading design teams.
  • Experience with product, service, strategy, and content design.
  • Proficiency in design systems, Figma, and web/mobile technologies.
  • Understanding of regulated, data‑heavy environments.
  • Strong business case development skills and ability to link design to business value.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and people‑management abilities.

Compensation & Benefits

• McLean, VA: $230,400 – $263,000
• New York, NY: $251,400 – $286,900
• Richmond, VA: $209,500 – $239,100
• Eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation.
