Labor And Delivery Registered Nurse (Rn)

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic L&D team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to patients throughout the labor and delivery process. This position requires a commitment to patient safety and effective communication with healthcare professionals.

Shift Details

• Unit: L&D
• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As needed

Unit Information

• Number of L&D Beds: 17
• Number of OR Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Number of Triage Beds: 4
• Number of Postpartum Beds: 16
• Average Births: 250 monthly
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 for normal laboring patients; 1:1 for high-risk patients; 4:1 couplet care; 2:1-4:1 Antepartum according to acuity

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Conduct vaginal exams and internal monitor placements with confidence.
• Care for high-risk laboring and delivery patients.
• Float to other units, including postpartum as needed.
• Circulate and recover C-section patients independently.
• Titrate intravenous drips as required, including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Insulin, and Heparin.
• Collaborate with OB/Neonatologist and Anesthesia team available 24/7.
• Monitor and interpret fetal strips effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• CERNER experience is required.

Orientation And Training

New team members will undergo a comprehensive 3-day orientation to familiarize themselves with unit protocols and procedures.

Navy blue scrubs are required for daily wear, along with light blue OR scrubs as necessary.
