Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (4x12-Hour Shifts, 7:00–19:30) | Onsite | 36 or 48 Hours/Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular/cardiothoracic ICU setting at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CABG, aortic aneurysm repair/dissection, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis
• Manage and monitor advanced hemodynamic support devices including ECMO, IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz catheters
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures including CRRT, chest tube management, arterial lines, CVCs, NG tube insertion, and Foley catheter insertion
• Operate and interpret data from equipment such as Hemosphere, Phillips monitors, ZOLL, Arctic Sun, Blanketrol, Glidescope, and Cortrak
• Float within scope to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (for admitted patients), and PACU (for admitted patients) as needed to meet facility needs

Required Qualifications

• Active or pending Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (RQI certifications not accepted)
• Ability to work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
• Must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (non-local travelers only; non-local driver's license required on file)
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record system

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior CVICU or CTVICU experience strongly preferred
• Experience with post-operative open heart patients and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Familiarity with bedside tachycardia/PEG procedures and endovascular repair patient populations
