About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience License: Active state RN license or compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 2 years of Neuro ICU experience or 2 years of comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital Description: The role involves fast-paced ICU work treating neurological diseases and disorders, including seizures and strokes. This is a comprehensive stroke center. The position will also involve treating overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU. Candidates will float as necessary based on unit needs. Candidates must be available to work every other weekend and holiday. Experience requires managing critically ill patients with various neurological conditions. Responsibilities include accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, and caring for ventilated patients. Candidates must be capable of interpreting dysrhythmias and managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including IV Teams, Respiratory Services, and Rapid Response Teams. Patient demographics include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The daily census is approximately 28 patients, with the unit comprising 36 beds. Clinical care includes high-acuity medical and surgical patients, with bedside procedures such as EVD placement and central line management. The position requires familiarity with specialized equipment, including ICP monitoring and arterial lines. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability in fluctuating patient assignments and a commitment to safe patient care.
