Chemical Process Engineer I

Job TitleAs a supplier of process systems our clients are continuously asking us to provide more balance-of plant scope and additional scope that requires a large portion of vendor purchases. As our projects becomeResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Model and optimize system performance in the Symmetry process calculatorSpecify, evaluate, and select major and minor system components including:Compression equipmentExpansion equipmentHeat exchange equipmentDistillation columnsValvesPipingCreate and modify Process Flow Diagrams Heat & Material Balance tables and P&IDsWrite and review operating and testing proceduresCalculate plant performance and gather preliminary pricing and other engineering information and draft technical proposals for Applied Technologies process plantsReview safety documentation and scenarios and participate in HAZOP meetingsAttend remote and onsite support for commissioning activities including plant operation training and troubleshootingDevelopment of process tools to improve or streamline design/selection of equipmentPerform engineering calculations to estimate system size or utility demandsReview customer specifications and incorporate into existing or new systemsWork closely with Sales Team Design Team Project Engineers and Field Service EngineersRecruiting & training of any junior process engineersQualificationsJob Requirements:Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or other engineering discipline with significant study of refrigeration systems.Experience working in engineering research or testing environment.Experience using process calculators for process system modeling (Symmetry HYSYS CHEMCAD etc.) or significant experience utilizing thermodynamic databases (REFPROP NIST steam tables etc.)Environmental Safety Requirements:New Employee Safety Training is required by all newly hired employees, including Safety AwarenessAll safety related training is provided and tracked by the EHS DirectorJob specific training modules deemed necessary by employee's Manager or Director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basisOther DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
