Job Title: Student Services Paraprofessional

Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Grand Junction-ACAGJ

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Reports To: Special Education Teacher

Work Days: School days from 7:15 to 3:15

Desired Start Date: Immediately

Wage Range: $22-24 hourly

ACAGJ is a growing school of over 200 students that offers grades K-9 for the 2024-45 with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year and is looking to grow our student services team. Ascent Classical Academies is dedicated to the intellectual and moral betterment of students and encourages staff to take their own moral and intellectual improvement seriously as part of a supportive and excellence-driven culture.

Essential Functions:

• Work with individual or small groups of students who are at-risk to provide educational
• interventions and progress monitoring, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, or ALPs.
• Implement small group/individual intervention instruction, progress monitoring, and other activities related to reading support.
• Attend team/parent meetings as required; provide input to teams regarding student academic strengths and weaknesses.
• Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Headmaster or Student Services Coordinator.
• Provide focused accommodations for a few students whose needs require continual or ongoing adult supervision and support.
• Facilitate communication about students with disabilities between General Education and Special Education Teachers.
• Provide classical pedagogical support to students with disabilities in line with the school's mission and the IEP.
• Support teachers and students by working to meet students' individual needs
• Assist with standardized testing and progress monitoring
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Commitment to classical education and to the high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Willingness to complete other related duties as requested

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
• Must be able to supervise outdoor activities

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group Services (MEGS) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS.
