PACU Registered Nurse

Mission Health, a comprehensive healthcare provider based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented PACU Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions. Working in a fast-paced Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, you will be responsible for closely monitoring patients’ vital signs, level of consciousness, pain, and overall recovery status, intervening promptly to address any changes in condition or signs of complications. You will collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe and seamless transitions of care from the operating room to the PACU and then to the appropriate inpatient unit or discharge home.

The PACU Registered Nurse will conduct comprehensive postoperative assessments, manage pain and nausea using evidence-based protocols, administer medications and treatments as ordered, and provide clear, compassionate education to patients and families regarding postoperative expectations and home care instructions. You will utilize critical thinking and strong clinical judgment to prioritize care, respond to emergencies, and maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Adherence to infection prevention, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements is essential, as is participation in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based projects.
