Job Opening: General Journeyman Electrician

The Umpqua Indian Utility Cooperative is excited to announce a full-time job opening for a General Journeyman Electrician. This key position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing electrical systems across a range of facilities and infrastructures under the tribe's jurisdiction. This role is filled with opportunities to contribute profoundly to the functionality and safety of our community’s infrastructure. Please note, this is not a remote job, and the successful applicant will be working on-site at various locations within our jurisdictions.

• Rough and finish wiring of buildings, well houses, sewage lift stations, water treatment facilities, and control systems.
• Coordinates or prepares shipment of materials and supplies for electrical construction to the job sites.
• Installs system components and wiring in compliance with the NEC, NFPA, and the UFC.
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices.
• Troubleshoots electrical problems and performs electrical maintenance for all electrical equipment and devices.
• Upgrades electrical equipment and devices when needed.
• Performs general wiring, replaces switches, receptacles, breakers, etc.
• Install new wiring or circuits for additional equipment: copiers, alarms, fans, lights, etc.
• Performs preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and eliminates severe problems that could be the cause of major downtime.
• Informs UIUC Supervising Electrician of parts, equipment, and other supplies that are necessary for job completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma, GED, and specialized vocational training in electricity.
• Minimum 4 years of General Journeyman experience.
• Must have thorough knowledge of the National Electric Code and local electric codes.
• Effective communication skills (oral, written, or business) for clear exchange of information and responding to inquiries.
• Ability to fill out forms meticulously and accurately.
• Mathematical skills: must be proficient in routine computations requiring knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and/or percentages.
• Reading and Interpreting: capable of reading and interpreting complex written or printed materials such as blueprints, schematics, building plans, charts, diagrams, maps, or instruction material.
• Proficient in the use of tools and equipment beyond basic keyboards or office machines.
• Must possess a valid and current Oregon Journeyman’s Electrician License.
• Must possess a valid and current Oregon Driver’s License.
