Material Handler

The Material Handler performs a blend of manual, clerical, and system-based tasks to support material control, shipping, receiving, and stockroom operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures that materials and finished products are accurately received, stored, issued, and shipped, while maintaining precise inventory records and supporting production needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and clerical duties related to material control, shipping, receiving, and stockroom operations.
• Pack finished and wrapped products in cardboard, wooden boxes, cartons, or other containers for shipment or storage.
• Arrange articles in containers using appropriate packing materials to prevent breakage or damage.
• Check all shipping, receiving, and material control paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
• Receive incoming materials into the stockroom and safely lift materials up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Maintain manual and computerized records, files, and documents by verifying and posting information for parts and materials received, disbursed, and on-hand.
• Prepare and process company and departmental forms using standard office equipment and a personal computer.
• Issue materials to the shop floor promptly and courteously to support production schedules.
• Provide assistance and support to department team members with material issues, shipping, receiving, and stockroom requirements.
• Identify carriers, determine freight charges, and schedule carriers for pick-ups.
• Administer materials and commodities from receipt of goods to issuing to the factory, including inventory control, kitting, and shipping as required.
• Manage production and non-production material stores, including packaging, storage, counting, and traceability by serial or part number when required.
• Store and track customer-furnished equipment and materials to ensure proper accountability.
• Count and sort incoming articles to verify receipt of items against requisitions or invoices.
• Store articles in bins, on the floor, or on shelves according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of items.
• Fill orders and issue supplies from stock to internal stakeholders.
• Prepare periodic, special, or perpetual inventory counts and reports.
• Mark identifying codes, figures, or letters on articles to ensure proper identification and traceability.
• Distribute stock to production leads and maintain accurate records of materials issued.
• Determine appropriate methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
• Maintain inventory and other stock records to support accurate material planning and control.
• Follow company policies and procedures in all material handling and documentation activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and production operations.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of shipping, receiving, packing, and stockroom processes and procedures.
• Ability to safely perform material handling tasks, including lifting materials up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Proficiency in material handling and inventory activities, including counting, sorting, issuing, and tracking materials.
• Experience using ERP or similar systems to manage inventory and material transactions.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
• Ability to operate a computer with working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Good verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with production, shipping, and stockroom teams.
• Ability to organize and expedite materials to meet production and shipping deadlines.
• Two years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with RF scanners for inventory and material tracking.
• Hands-on experience in warehouse operations, including packing, stocking, and order fulfillment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with soldering, solder work, and electronic assembly in a production environment.
• Background in production and electronic assembly processes.
• Familiarity with kitting and preparing materials for manufacturing lines.
• Comfort working with both manual and computerized inventory systems.
• Attention to detail in labeling, marking, and identifying parts and materials.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in shipping, receiving, production, and stockroom operations.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple material priorities and tasks.
• Adaptability to perform other duties as assigned in support of overall operations.

Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse setting that involves regular interaction with production lines, stockrooms, and shipping and receiving areas. You will work with standard material handling equipment, including forklifts and RF scanners, and use computers with Excel, Office, and ERP systems to manage inventory and documentation. The role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and handling boxes, cartons, and various packaging materials. You will work around stored materials in bins, on shelves, and on the floor, and you will follow established company policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nampa, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
