Security Technician

Position Purpose As a LONG Security Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion alarm systems in commercial, industrial, government, and corrections environments. This role involves working independently on routine service tasks and collaborating with project teams on more complex assignments. You will provide excellent customer service, ensuring that systems are operating efficiently and effectively while addressing any technical concerns that arise. Pay Range $27 - $40 per hr plus potential profit share. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain both IP and analog based security systems including access control, video management, intrusion detection, IP intercom, nurse call and mass communication systems. Accurately document completed work and submit time entries daily through the relevant software. Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections of systems, including tasks such as cleaning, replacing parts, updating software, and optimizing systems to prevent failures. Inspect for physical damage, wear, and signs of degradation. Communicate effectively with customers, addressing inquiries, providing technical guidance, and resolving issues. Educate system users on proper operation and maintenance of products and systems. Advise customers on necessary replacements or critical repairs for maintaining equipment functionality. Troubleshoot IP networks to ensure ongoing system performance. Proficient in installing and servicing electronic door hardware. Responsible for maintaining and repairing IP based Camera systems, Access Controls, Paging, Digital Intercom Systems. Training to maintain HMI and PLC based control systems, LAN and WAN Network. Attend construction meetings as required for projects. Assist in developing quotes, including time and materials estimates, for small projects or system upgrades. Provide input for updating drawings and maintaining equipment records, including submitting redlined documents to application engineers for as‑built documentation. On‑call work and out of state travel may be required. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 2‑year technical degree OR 2 years related experience with IP based networking or electronic security systems required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Electronic principals such as AC/DC theory, Ohm's Law, ability to read and understand a digital Volt/Ohm meter. Proficient in Access Controls, Life Safety, PLC/HMI, NVRs IP‑based Camera Systems, Cloud Based Camera Systems, Paging, Digital/analog Intercom System, Data backbone cabling systems and network switches. Proficient in MS suite, Bluebeam. Strong aptitude for using hand and power tools, with a self‑motivated drive to learn and expand knowledge across various systems. Excellent analytical skills for resolving software and system integration issues. Interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures. Capable of managing multiple tasks independently, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability. Strong customer service orientation. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to legally operate a company vehicle. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Genetec, Valerus/Vicon, DMP, Axis, Bosch, GE CIMPLICITY, Harding DXI/DXL, Avigilon, Lenel, HID, Cisco, Aruba. Relevant certifications in security systems (e.g., BICSI) preferred. No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. Physical Requirements This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces. This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor. This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
