Crater IIn this job you will be responsible for preparing and assembling wooden containers and packing large and heavy products and fragile apparatus for shipmentAs a Crater you will:Construct non-standard boxes, crates, or skids for domestic or foreign shipmentsSelect materials for packing or protection of product and the method of bracing or blocking to prevent shifting while in transitCheck orders against bills of material to ensure that all components are included, report shortages or errorsAssemble orders, count, weigh, move or direct movement to the designated floor location using hand trucks, pallet jacks or hoistsRecord date and quantity, method of shipment and verifies by signing initialsMark order number on crates or packages with sales order number.Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsConserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job resultsContribute to team effort by training others in performance of basic crating tasks as neededInspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operationDocument actions by completing production and quality formsWe are looking for someone who:Has a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill developmentIdeally has 0-1 year experience working in a manufacturing environment or basic carpentry skillsIs able to safely use small hand and power toolsHas Experience using table and band sawsMust be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and accurate measuringHas basic computer skillsIs able to read instructions and understand verbal instructions in EnglishIdeally can read and interpret Drawings and Bills of MaterialThe physical demands of the job are:Work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational TitlesFrequencies - Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%)Lifting Demands: Lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistanceLift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis floor to waistCarry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis up to 25 feetPush/Pull up to 40 pounds on a frequent basisPush/Pull more than 40 pounds on an occasional basis with assistancePostural Demands: Standing – continuousWalking – continuousBending/stooping – frequentSquatting/kneeling – frequentLifting – frequentMiscellaneous Demands: Gripping, manipulation, fingering –continuousVariable hand/power tool use – frequentTwo-person tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including engine stands hand trucks, pallet jacks, and hoistsWhat we offer you:Pay Range is typically between $22.50 to $23.75 per hourPlease note the pay information shown above is a general guideline.
