The University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences is seeking a GI Medical Director to lead and grow its division at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC). You will play a key leadership role while maintaining a dynamic clinical practice, working alongside a collaborative physician group and engaged trainees in a mission-driven environment serving diverse patient populations.

Leadership Commitment: 

\n

\n
• Lead and expand GI services on campus in partnership with division leadership 
\n
• Approximately 20% protected time for leadership responsibilities 
\n
• Participate in strategic planning, academic initiatives, and administrative leadership
\n
• Collaborate with university and hospital leadership on program growth
\n

\n

\n

Clinical Practice:

\n

\n
• Enjoy a structured clinical schedule with a mix of procedures, outpatient care, and subspecialty clinics.
\n
• Two procedure days per week (10–12 cases per day) 
\n
• Two clinic days with a mix of new and follow-up patients
\n
• One administrative day weekly 
\n
• Opportunities to practice in hepatology, general GI, and IBD clinics 
\n

\n

Team & Support:

\n

\n
• You will lead a well-supported, collaborative team focused on quality care and patient access.
\n
• Oversees a team of 4–6 physicians 
\n
• Supported by APPs and dedicated RN care managers 
\n
• Established infrastructure that has improved access and reduced no-show rates significantly
\n
• Work with GI fellows (3 per year; 9 total) 
\n
• Participate in teaching, lectures, and mentorship
\n
• Access to university-affiliated research initiatives and collaboration
\n

Call & Schedule:

\n

\n
• Shared call structure with fellows taking first call 
\n
• Approximately 1:4 call rotation (targeting 1:6) 
\n
• Weekend call included with flexibility
\n

\n
