As a Driver, you will be responsible for providing safe, reliable, and exceptional transportation services to our residents, ensuring their safety, comfort, and dignity throughout their journey. This is a dynamic and rewarding role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.Location: Syracuse, New YorkCompany Name: Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and NursingCompany Slogan: The perfect setting to enjoy life.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Safely transport residents to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, hospital visits, community events, and other scheduled destinationsAssist residents with entering and exiting vehicles using proper transfer techniques and mobility equipmentSecure wheelchairs and other assistive devices according to safety regulationsEnsure residents are comfortable and supervised during transportationMaintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, appointment schedules, and incident reportsCommunicate transportation schedules and delays with nursing staff, families, and healthcare providersPerform daily vehicle inspections, including checking fuel levels, tire pressure, fluids, lights, wheelchair lifts, and safety equipmentKeep transportation vehicles clean, sanitized, and in good operating conditionReport maintenance needs, accidents, or safety concerns immediatelyFollow all state and federal transportation regulations and facility policiesPreferred CNA Responsibilities:Assist residents with transfers using gait belts, wheelchairs, walkers, and mechanical lifts as appropriateMonitor residents for changes in condition during transportation and promptly report concerns to nursing staffProvide assistance with toileting, hygiene, feeding, or other activities of daily living while away from the facility when necessaryRespond appropriately to medical emergencies while awaiting emergency medical servicesQualifications:High school diploma or equivalentValid state driver's license with a clean driving recordAbility to safely operate wheelchair-accessible transportation vehiclesCurrent CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationPreferred:Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificationPrevious experience working in a long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, assisted living, or healthcare settingExperience transporting elderly or medically complex individualsKnowledge of safe resident transfer techniques and infection prevention practicesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Strong commitment to resident safety and exceptional customer serviceAbility to interact professionally with residents, families, physicians, and healthcare staffKnowledge of defensive driving principlesAbility to remain calm in emergency situationsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and professionalismPhysical Requirements:Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and climbLift, transfer, push, or pull residents and mobility equipmentOperate wheelchair lifts and securement systemsSit for extended periods while drivingWork both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditionsWorking Conditions:Skilled Nursing Facility/Long-Term Care environmentExposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and varying weather conditionsMay require evening, weekend, holiday, or on-call transportation coverageBenefits:Competitive payHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time offRetirement planEmployee assistance programContinuing education opportunitiesIf you are a caring and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about providing exceptional transportation services, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
