Credit and Collections Manager

We are seeking an experienced Credit & Collections Manager to join one of our excellent clients in the Triad. This is a long-term project role so all applicants should be available immediately. This role is responsible for managing customer credit reviews, overseeing collections activities, monitoring aging reports, resolving payment disputes, and ensuring timely account receivable collections. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent analytical abilities, and experience working closely with customers, sales teams, and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the credit and collections department.
- Develop and maintain credit policies, procedures, and collection strategies.
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness and establish appropriate credit limits.
- Review and approve new customer accounts and credit applications.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
- Lead collection activities for past-due accounts to reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
- Investigate and resolve customer payment disputes, deductions, and short pays.
- Work closely with sales, customer service, and accounting teams to resolve billing issues.
- Conduct regular account reviews and recommend accounts for credit holds when necessary.
- Analyze collection trends and prepare reports for management.
- Negotiate payment plans and settlement agreements when appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Supervise, train, and mentor credit and collections staff.
- Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts receivable.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and cash flow.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of credit, collections, or accounts receivable experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, collections practices, and accounts receivable management.
- Experience managing aging reports, deductions, chargebacks, and dispute resolution.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
