What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nations leading voice on mental health. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nations largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
Today we are an alliance of hundreds of local affiliates state organizations and a national office that work in communities across the United States to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. NAMI advocates for all who are affected by mental illness both the individuals and the people in their lives. We work to address disparities and injustices and to promote dignity and inclusion for all people with mental illness and their addition to being advocates we educate we listen and we lead as evidenced by our public awareness campaigns the range of programs we provide and our strong public policy.
NAMI is seeking a dynamic and creative Manager Marketing and Communications to play a pivotal role in shaping our outreach efforts. Responsibilities include working with departmental colleagues to create multi-channel marketing and communications strategies in collaboration with the Senior Manager Marketing and Communications. Additionally the Manager Marketing and Communications will play a large role in developing compelling content and creative to promote NAMIs programs initiatives events and development.
This role works closely with the Senior Manager Marketing and Communications and the broader Marketing and Communications team to ensure alignment and consistency across initiatives. To ensure alignment with NAMIs strategic goals the Manager will help drive key performance indicators (KPIs) offer strategic oversight of marketing and communications initiatives and recommend adjustments based on performance data to ensure continuous improvement and mission alignment. This position is also responsible for providing support for production and promotion of Hope Starts With Us NAMIs popular podcast.
This full-time position is based out of our Arlington VA office 2-3 days per week.*
Salary Range: $68k - $74k
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as Marketing and Communications liaison to highlight work of internal clients across the organization and promote NAMI programs initiatives events and strategic campaigns
- In collaboration with the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications and MarCom team help create marketing and communication plans aligned to organizational strategic priorities
- Help create omnichannel campaigns using the PESO model and utilizing a variety of tactics including but not limited to digital and OOH advertising social media email marketing NAMIs website partnerships print collateral media outreach video and new media
- Work with Marketing and Communications department colleagues to execute communications and marketing plans and provide project management support
- Conduct project brief meetings to align on strategic priorities and project goals establish clear project timelines schedule related activities and actively participate in meetings
- Write content for marketing and communication campaigns and review creative acting as a guide and account manager between Marketing and Communications and internal clients
- Develop clear concise and compelling marketing and communications talking points that align with organizational strategy and brand messaging for various internal and external audiences
- Gather campaign analytics reporting on progress and providing analysis to internal and/or external stakeholders
- Ensure timely delivery of marketing and communication collateral resources and national office updates to support NAMIs State Offices and Affiliates effectively
- Provide vital support for the creation and logistical coordination of a wide range of marketing deliverables for NAMIs development outreach
- Support production and promotion of NAMIs podcast Hope Starts With Us through episode research content creation and promotion activities
- In coordination with marketing and communication team members conduct research and analysis on current marketing trends and target audience behavior to refine messaging and optimize campaign performance
- Monitor track and evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for marketing and communication deliverables; report findings and recommendations to optimize strategies to align with NAMIs strategic priorities
- Support NAMIs communication strategy development and execution
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in marketing communications or related field with 3-5 years of work experience
- Cause-related communications fundraising/development or agency background preferred; experience in marketing or communications at a non-profit or public health organization is highly desirable
- Ability to maintain flexibility and foster teamwork in a fast-paced demanding work environment
- Experience using a project management software such as Asana
- Experience measuring and analyzing metrics and KPIs and providing reports
- Demonstrated knowledge in using marketing analytics tools and software. Ability to build customized tracking dashboards conduct comprehensive marketing analysis and generate reports
- Creative thinker and self-starter with ability to work well independently and within a team
- Ability to define and meet deadlines manage multiple tasks and ensure quality marketing communications outcomes
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to challenges with keen problem-solving skills and adaptability
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across a matrixed organization
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Organized detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the AP Style Guide with an enthusiasm for applying its principles
- Working knowledge or proficiency with MailChimp or similar email marketing platforms
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- Must pass background check
* This position operates under a hybrid work model and requires regular onsite presence 2-3 times per -office attendance is essential to facilitate collaboration support cross-functional communication engage with stakeholders and senior leadership and manage projects that cannot be done remotely. Candidates must be able to reliably work onsite and adapt to evolving operational requirements.
