Power Plant Mechanic

Location: Bakersfield, CA
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour DOE
Schedule: Full-Time | Overtime Available
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview

Key Staffing is currently recruiting for experienced Power Plant Mechanics to support maintenance and outage (shutdown/turnaround) projects at power generation and cogeneration facilities. We are seeking mechanics with hands-on experience performing maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on critical power plant equipment in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on power generation equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble industrial rotating equipment.
• Maintain and repair pumps, valves, gearboxes, turbines, compressors, heat exchangers, and related mechanical systems.
• Align equipment and perform precision measurements using mechanical tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Assist with shutdown (turnaround) activities, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting.
• Follow all plant safety procedures and OSHA regulations.
• Work effectively with supervisors and maintenance crews to complete projects safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Power Plant Mechanic , Industrial Mechanic, or Millwright in a power generation or cogeneration facility.
• Hands-on experience working with equipment such as:
• • Steam and gas turbines
  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Gearboxes
  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers
  • Bearings and rotating equipment
• Experience supporting plant outages, shutdowns, or turnarounds is highly preferred.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and mechanical hand and power tools.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding industrial environments.
• Ability to work overtime and varying schedules during outage projects.

Required Certifications

• Valid Confined Space Certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is preferred
• TWIC Card is a plus
• Valid Drivers License
