Combo Welders/Fitters - Barge Repair Facility

Job Description

Craftsmen Contractors is looking to hire for Structural Welders/Fitters to work at a barge repair facility in Harahan, LA . The ideal candidate must have experience (at least 3 years) as a Combo Welder/Fitter. This is a long term position working full time day shift (6:30am - 4 or 5pm) Mondays thru Fridays with some occasional weekends available. You will need to have experience using an oxygen/propylene torch.

Pay rate is $18.50 to $23.25/hr. depending on experience.

No per diem is offered.

The pay rate will be determined on how you do on your Welding/Fitting test, job performance and job attendance.

  • Have at least 3 years of Structural Welding/Fitting (preferably barge or shipbuilding) experience.
  • Be able to use oxygen/propylene torch.
  • Must have your own welding and fitting equipment.
  • Previous experience welding on a barge in the water is preferred.
  • Pass a Welding/Fitting test - stick welding, mild steel and low hydrogen rods.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Do a face to face interview prior to being hired.
  • Know how to read a tape measure.
  • Some experience with torch cutting.
  • Will need to have own hand tools and have all PPE.
