In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.# **What you will be doing**The Neurophysiology Associate supports intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) services across both the Operating Room and outpatient settings. This role performs standard neurodiagnostic procedures—including nerve conduction studies and evoked potentials—while working under the direct supervision of experienced neurophysiology staff and attending neurologists.As an integral member of the surgical team, the Neurophysiology Associate collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.**Key Responsibilities****Clinical & Technical Responsibilities*** Perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM) procedures under supervision* Assist with case setup, signal acquisition, and waveform interpretation* Apply and maintain electrodes while ensuring patient safety and skin integrity* Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues in real time* Maintain compliance with electrical safety and infection control standards**Collaboration & Communication*** Communicate findings promptly to supervising neurologists and surgical teams* Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary clinical teams* Provide clear explanations and compassionate support to patients and families* Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and educational sessions**Professional Development & Compliance*** Participate in ongoing training, education, and competency development* Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to HIPAA standards* Support quality improvement initiatives and departmental goals* Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and accountability in all responsibilities**Qualifications****Education*** Required: Associate’s degree or higher* Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biological Sciences, or related field* Preferred: Graduate of an ABRET-recognized NIOM program**Experience*** Required: Experience in a healthcare setting**Skills*** Strong communication and interpersonal skills* Ability to work in a fast-paced operating room environment* Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills* Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)**Working Conditions*** Combination of standing and sitting for extended periods* Physical activity including bending, crouching, and lifting (20–50 lbs)* Exposure to clinical environments, including operating rooms* OSHA Category 1: potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids**Non-Discrimination Policy** Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
