Who We Want Primary responsibility for monitoring and measuring products on the manufacturing floor and escalating nonconforming product issues according to Challenge Manufacturing Quality Standards. Performs periodic quality checks, records information in Plex (ERP), and performs general utility work to meet work schedule. What You’ll Do Perform all duties to support plants’ daily and weekly production requirements. Inspect and gauge raw or welded parts according to operator checklist to ensure parts are within customer specifications. Verify first piece inspection and approval has been completed according to Challenge Manufacturing’s first‑piece approval process. Support the company’s quality process when internal and external quality failures result in product containment. Follow containment process to ensure defects are not shipped to customers. Ensure parts are packed according to packaging instructions to meet customer requirements. Perform daily Layered Process Audits (LPA) to ensure quality processes are being followed. Monitor quality alerts to ensure they are followed and are valid. Ensure nonconforming processes are adhered to in order to maintain quality standards. Ensure and maintain safety and cleanliness of work area by performing housekeeping duties. Perform and cross‑train on various work centers as required. Complete appropriate paperwork and documentation. Meet daily production requirements. When And Where This is a 2nd Shift position (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday) located at our plant in Walker, MI. Note: All new hires are required to attend orientation during their first week of employment. Orientation runs Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; attendance is mandatory for all five days and no absences are permitted. Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends outside of our regular hours to meet customer needs and deadlines. What You Need To Have Must be 18 years of age or older. Ability to stand for 8–10 hours a day and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties. High School Graduate or equivalent. Six months of quality experience. One year of manufacturing experience preferred. High standards of performance, honesty, and integrity. Ability to listen, stay focused, and resolve conflict constructively. Open to feedback and continuous improvement. Flexible to move within own and other work areas to support plant flow. Knowledge and skills to perform all aspects of the job and maintain proficiency. Positive attitude toward change and collaboration. Reliable attendance and timely breaks. Ability to use quality inspection tools and read job element sheets. Picture PC and keyboard/mouse skills required. Ability to lift or move material up to 40 pounds frequently. Ability to work up to 12 hours per day, including Saturday and Sunday, when necessary.
